Tekfire uses built-in lithium-ion battery to create an electrical arc between two contacts. In addition to working in windy weather, the electric fire starter also works regardless of altitude. There also is no butane, gas or fuel required! For best results, it is recommended that you use the lighter with a form of tinder, such as the company's ParaTinder or WetFire materials, to get a flame started with ease.

To operate the fire starter, simply press the button on the body of the device. The button will glow green when in use and when the battery is fully charged. When the power is low, the button will glow red. During a charging process, the button will flash red.
